05 julymore infoExperts of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT have already reported that the average age of cars in Russia is 13.4 years (as of July 1st, 2019). However, depending on the federal district, this indicator differs markedly.
The Russian car market, which in June reduced the pace of decline, nevertheless fell to the fifth place in the European championship. According to data obtained by AUTOSTAT agency in national associations of European car manufacturers, France became the leader in car sales in June, where 233,820 cars were sold (+ 1.2%). Thus, a positive result was recorded for the first time after five months of falling demand.
Germany is the second one with an indicator of 220,272 sold cars (-32.3%). The third result among European car markets was shown by Great Britain – 145,377 sold cars (-34.9%). According to the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Car Dealers (SMMT), the negative result of June was due to the consumer uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic and the delay in opening dealerships in Wales and Scotland. Italy is the next, the dealers of country sold 132,457 cars (-23.2%). As noted by the Italian Automobile Manufacturers Association (ANFIA), it was largely due to the fact that in the last month they delivered cars ordered before the coronavirus pandemic, the rate of decline in sales turned out to be half as much as in May, while consumer demand is still very weak.
If, when considering the car market of Europe, Russia is taken into account, then our country dropped to the fifth place in the European ranking. According to the estimates of AUTOSTAT agency, the sales of cars were about 115 thousand units in the last month (excluding LCV). We also add that the car market of Spain in June fell by 36.7% and was 82,651 cars. As noted in the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Cars and Trucks (ANFAC), the decline in sales continues, despite the opening of dealerships. In this regard, the association hopes for an early launch of the fleet renewal program, which was developed by the Spanish government and involves the payment of subsidies to buyers of new cars.
