AvtoVAZ reduced the sales by 9% in Russia in June

In June, AvtoVAZ sold 28,020 LADA cars in the Russian market – lower by 9% than a year before. Despite the extremely negative trend due to the global pandemic and currency fluctuations in April and May, AvtoVAZ is recording the beginning of a phased recovery in the market demand, the automaker’s press service informed.

According to the results of six months of 2020, Russian LADA dealers sold 132,596 vehicles, which is lower by 24% than a year ago. In June, LADA Granta became the best seller of AvtoVAZ, its sales fell by 1% and reached 11,478 cars. The second result was shown by LADA Vesta – 8,442 sold cars (-6%). LADA Largus station wagon is the third one by popularity among LADA models, at which 3,376 customers (-23%) have chosen. As noted, the commercial models of LADA continue to strengthen their position: for example, in the previous month sales of commercial versions of Largus grew by 2.3% in compare with 2019. In total, for the first half of the year, 4,469 LADA commercial vehicles were sold.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, AVTOVAZ will maintain a full five-day working week until August 31st, 2020. Previously, the company planned to switch to a reduced four-day workweek from June 29th, 2020. The company's management decided to maintain a full working week in July and August of 2020 due to an increase in orders for new vehicles for July and August from dealers, partners, organizations and departments engaged in corporate and government procurement in compare with the previous month. This leads to a corresponding increase in production volumes. Sales should also be supported by state measures to stimulate demand, which since June 1st have been strengthened by additional programs - trade-in of car over 6 years old and car sales to employees of medical organizations of the state healthcare system. These state programs involve all models and all configurations of LADA vehicles.
