Fiat will output a new engine of small capacity in Poland

Fiat Powertrain Technologies will start a production of a new petrol engine with volume of 900 cbsm at their factory in Poland. It will be the smallest engine that has ever been installed on the european car and the only two cylinder engine in Europe. This new engine will be output at the end of the next year at the automotive factory in Serbia, Zastava.
As the Automotive News Europe edition reports, a new Fiat engine, called SGE, is planned to be output in two variants - from a naturally aspirated version of power 65 hp to 110 hp turbine motor, connected with a labeled electrical system of management of valves Multiair.
The engine of 65 hp exhausts less than 100 g of carbonic acid gas on 1 km. In future, this engine will appear under the bonnet of mini cars Fiat 500 and Panda, and possibly on inexpensive versions Grande Punto. To output a new engine, Fiat Powertrain Technologies will enlarge the production at its factory in Belsko Bjala in Poland. Fiat has not yet reported about the planned volumes of production and the size of investments in this project.
We should note that earlier Fiat planned to output an engine SGE at its factory Mirafiori in Turin. However at the end of the last year the workers of this enterprise rose in opposition to the intention of the direction of Fiat to enlarge the production of manual transmissions C514 from 15 to 17 shifts per week. In view of this, Fiat decided that the Mirafori factory is not flexible enough to produce a new engine.
