Demand for car sharing in Moscow has almost recovered completely

The demand for car sharing services in Moscow has almost reached the “pre-pandemic” level and continues to grow, services BelkaCar, Delimobil and YouDrive informed TASS agency. The first restrictions on the operation of car sharing in the capital due to the coronavirus began to operate on April 13th. Since the end of May, services could provide customers with cars only for long-term rent, that is, for at least five days. Per-minute tariffs have been launched since June 9th.

BelkaCar co-founder, Ekaterina Makarova, said that in Moscow, the demand returned to the “pre-coronavirus” indicators within 2-3 days after the return of per-minute tariffs. “This refers to the load and the number of rents. From what we see, we expect further growth in demand for car sharing in the autumn,” - said Ms. Makarova.

The press service of YouDrive said that the demand for car sharing in general is quickly recovering. “Now in Moscow, the demand level is about 70% of the pre-crisis period and continues to grow, different indicators in other cities. A number of factors influence this: the restrictions were removed not in all cities of presence, but somewhere, for example, in St. Petersburg, car sharing has been working in standard mode for less than a week," - the company said.

The source of TASS close to Delimobil informed that the demand for car sharing recovered by 85% in Moscow from the beginning of the year. At the same time, the press service of the service did not disclose data on demand in the capital, but noted that in those regions in which car sharing was not closed due to coronavirus, the demand increased by about 50% in compare with the period before the pandemic.
