Datsun reduced sales by 55% in Russia in May


Russian Datsun dealers sold 854 cars in May – lower by 55% than a year before. According to the results of five months of 2020, Datsun sales reached 5,902 cars, which is lower by 33% than the figure for the same period of the previous year. As a result, the brand’s market share was 1.2% versus 1.4% a year before, according to AEB.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in the framework of a new strategy aimed at further developing and strengthening the Nissan brand in the Russian market, it was decided to complete the production of cars under Datsun brand at AvtoVAZ's facilities in Tolyatti in December of 2020. Deliveries to dealers will continue until March of 2021, and retail sales will continue until the dealer sells the last car from the warehouse. As noted, the company will continue to provide after-sales service and spare parts sales for more than 130,000 Datsun owners through a network of authorized Nissan dealerships. The warranty policy will remain unchanged.

Recall that Datsun brand is represented in the Russian market by an on-DO sedan and a mi-DO hatchback. Cars are equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine rated at 87 or 106 HP, which is combined both with a manual gearbox and an automatic transmission. The undisputed bestseller of Datsun is the on-DO sedan, the share of which reaches 80% of the total sales of the brand.
