State support of auto industry will be more than 45 billion rubles in 2020

State support of the automotive industry in Russia in 2020 will be more than 45 billion rubles, said Denis Pak, head of the automotive and railway industry department of the RF Ministry of Industry and Trade. “More than 45 billion rubles were allocated for the auto industry this year. As a result of the global economic crisis, which was caused by the pandemic and falling oil prices, the demand for cars in all automotive markets decreased significantly, and the Russian market is also in this general negative trend. In view of the high performance of all demand stimulation programs that we are implementing, this year we continued this practice and increased budgeting for many measures, ” - said Mr.Pak, quoted by Prime agency.

So, according to the presentation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, 17 billion rubles were allocated for preferential car loans this year, the expected effect is the sale of 119 thousand cars, 8 billion Rubles were allocated for preferential leasing, the expected effect is 26 thousand cars, for the new program “Affordable rental” – it was allocated 2.5 billion with the expected effect of 14 thousand sold cars, 3.3 billion rubles were allocated for subsidies to gas engine manufacturers, and 8.33 thousand units are expected to be sold. In addition, departments and state-owned companies allocated 4.5 billion rubles for advance purchases of 33 thousand units of motor vehicles, and other 10.2 billion for the purchase of 2.5 thousand ambulances by the regions.

At the same time, Denis Pak noted that more than 90% of the vehicles that were included in the support program would not have been sold without preferential terms. "Most of the vehicles that are supported by state support measures, the absolute majority, I think, more than 80-90%, would not be sold and accordingly produced if they would not have provided state support measures," - he stressed.
