St. Petersburg car market was the second one in the country in May

Experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" examined the situation in the regional markets of new cars according to the results of May 2020. As it turned out, the St. Petersburg market became the second one in the country in the previous month.

Moscow is still the leader in the regional ranking, but St. Petersburg managed to bypass the suburbs, which traditionally ranked the second one. According to the agency, St. Petersburg residents purchased 3.4 thousand new passenger cars in May, which is lower by 42% than in the same month of 2019. However, this result is better than the overall Russian market (-48%) and much better than in Moscow (-65%). KIA (547 units), Hyundai (432 units) and LADA (397 units) were among the three most popular brands in the Northern capital market.

Among the models, KIA representative also leads - in May, St. Petersburg citizens bought 204 Rio cars. Hyundai Creta crossover is the second one (183 units). It is followed by Volkswagen Polo (148 units) and Hyundai Solaris (145 units), and closes the top five LADA Largus (134 units). In addition to the listed models, the TOP-10 of St. Petersburg car market by the results of May included: LADA Vesta (131 units), Volkswagen Tiguan (109 units), LADA Granta (83 units), Skoda Rapid (72 units) and Mitsubishi Outlander (69 units).
