KAMAZ introduced the first cargo electric vehicle

KAMAZ is working on the creation of electric trucks, the first of which was an electric garbage truck with the index 53198 - KAMAZ-Chistogor. In August, its road tests will begin, and serial production of KAMAZ-53198 electric vehicle is scheduled to be launched in 2023, KAMAZ press service reported.

The chassis of the KAMAZ-53198 electric cargo garbage truck presumes the possibility of installing various types of add-ons (an onboard car, an isothermal van, a refrigerator, a hydraulic lift, a tow truck, a tank truck, etc.). In the future, KAMAZ-Chistogor family will be expanded; it will include several models of electric trucks of different total weight, wheel formula, and length and body type. KAMAZ-53198 electric garbage truck has a 4x2 wheel arrangement. The carrying capacity of the chassis is 12 tons, the capacity of the garbage truck is 6 tons, and the gross vehicle weight is 19.5 tons. The maximum speed of the electric truck is at least 90 km/h. The capacity of the traction battery is 156.6 kW / h. The estimated power reserve with the full mass of the vehicle, taking into account the work of the add-on for garbage pressing, is 100 km.

“KAMAZ-53198 electric garbage truck is equipped with a modern powerful electric power plant and traction batteries using NMC technology with high specific capacities and energy power. The vehicle also has a driver assistance system ADAS of level 3, City Pilot class, developed by the specialists of the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center, which corresponds to the semi-autonomous mode of vehicle movement, ”- said Sergey Nazarenko, the chief designer of innovative cars of the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center.
