In May, the new LCV market fell by 27% in Russia

According to the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", the market volume of new light commercial vehicles in May 2020 reached 5.5 thousand units. This is lower by 27% than a year ago. In many respects, the market decline is due to the restrictions that existed in the authoritarian sphere due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The championship among the new LCVs still belongs to the domestic brand GAZ. Last month, its share was 44% of the total volume, or almost 2.4 thousand sold units – lower by 30% than in May of 2019.

Ford is the second one with 954 cars and the best growth indicator in the top-10 - plus 33% in compare with May of 2019. Russian UAZ finished the top-3 (776 units), which showed a negative trend in May (-37%). The five leading brands also included LADA (581 units; -21%) and Volkswagen (186 units; -50%).

We should note that, according to the results of five months of 2020, the volume of the Russian market of new LCVs reached 34.7 thousand units, which is lower by 16% than in January - May of the previous year.
