The market of used cars fell by 29% in May

According to the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", the market volume of used cars in Russia in May of this year reached 305 thousand units, which is lower by 29% than the result for the same period of the previous year.

The leader among brands is traditionally Russian LADA, which accounts for about a quarter of the whole secondary market. The volume of resale of VAZ cars fell by 31% to 75.2 thousand units in May of 2020.

The second and third places in the ranking belonged to Japanese brands - Toyota and Nissan, their cars were resold in the amount of 34.8 thousand and 17.5 thousand units, respectively. At the same time, the fall in the secondary market of both brands is approximately the same (-26% and -27%, respectively). According to the results of May, the top-5 of leading brands included Korean Hyundai (16 thousand units) and KIA (15.4 thousand units), the resale of which fell almost the same as that at the “Japanese” (-28% and - 27% respectively).

According to the experts of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, according to the results of five months of 2020, the volume of the secondary market in the Russian Federation reached 1 million 762 thousand used cars. This is lower by 14% than in January - May of 2019.
