  • 21.09.18 What type of fuel do Russians use for cars?

Experts of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT" and the publishing house "Za Rulem" decided to find out in a joint online poll what types of fuel Russian motorists use. The survey was conducted from August 29th to September 9th, 2018. More than 16 thousand respondents took part in it.

In Sakhalin, about 1,000 cars were converted to gas for free

In March this year, a new program of the regional government was announced in the Sakhalin Region, aimed at the supporting of environmentally-friendly technologies for converting gasoline vehicles to gas-engine fuel.

Avtostat has already reported earlier that under this program all interested residents of the region can convert their cars to gas, while the authorities promised to return the costs of the conversion. The amount of compensation is 100% (but not more than 150 thousand rubles). At the moment, as reported by local media, about 1000 car owners have already taken advantage of this opportunity. It is possible that in the coming months, the figures for the transfer of transport to gas on the island will grow even faster: we note that for three months from the date of the announcement of the program, approximately a half the time the service stations were closed due to the situation with coronavirus and response to the authorities to "stay at home."

Recall that by the end of 2024, the region’s authorities plan to transfer at least a half of all Sakhalin engine vehicles to gas motor fuel. According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, as of January 1st, 2020, more than 170 thousand cars were registered in Sakhalin.

It is worth noting the authorities' comprehensive approach to solving the task - the proposal affected not only the personal transport of Sakhalin residents, but also heavy vehicles belonging to legal entities, and all this is being done in parallel with the construction of new gas stations (and also with the mechanism of compensation to investors from the budget). And in addition to cost compensation, car owners are also offered a 50% discount when paying transport tax.
