The premium car market fell by 60% in April


Experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" calculated that in April of 2020, the Russians purchased 5.5 thousand new cars of the premium segment. This is lower by 60% than a year ago.

The residents of our country gave the most preferences to BMW - for the previous month 1594 cars of the Bavarian brand were bought, which is 55% worse than the result of a year ago. The second place in the premium segment by the results of April was occupied by Mercedes-Benz (1105 units), the indicator of which fell even more (-68%).

At a number of premium brands, the market size was less than a thousand units: Lexus (883 units; -58%), Audi (696 units; -47%), Land Rover (377 units; -54%), Porsche (263 units; -52%), Volvo (228 units; -67%) and Infiniti (125 units; -70%). It did not reach a hundred at the rest brands. At the same time, only at Audi the drop was less than 50%, and it turned out to be the maximum at Genesis (-77%).

According to experts of the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, in April the premium segment felt a little “better” than the whole Russian market (-64%). In this regard, its share grew to 10.2% (from 9% in April of 2019).
