Experts of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" analyzed the situation in the market of new cars in the federal districts of the country, which became as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. As it turned out, the largest market decline in April 2020 was recorded in the Central Federal District.

So, the CFD car market dipped by 70% in compare with April 2019. At the same time, Moscow and the Moscow Region, which remain the largest regional markets of the country, are pulling it down. If in the capital, the car market crashed by 80%, then in the suburbs the fall was 73%. In addition, in April, a market drop stronger than the all-Russian level (-64%) was noted in the North Caucasus (-69%), the South (-69%) and the North-West Federal Districts (-68%). The market of new cars in the Volga region fell by 62%, in the Urals - by 61% in the previous month. In Siberia and the Far East, the situation looks even “better” (-39% and -26%, respectively).

Moreover, in the last two federal districts there are even regions in which April market growth was noted: in the Siberian Federal District it is the Altai Republic (+ 17%), and in the Far Eastern Federal District it is Chukotka (+ 29%) and Jewish Autonomous Okrug (+ 64%). But, according to agency experts, in these three “growing” regions of the Russian Federation, the volume of the new car market itself remains very low (less than 60 units).
