The production of mass models of Chevrolet in Russia is postponed until the summer


UzAuto will start the sales of low-cost cars under the Chevrolet brand in our country this summer. This information was confirmed in the Russian representative office of the Uzbek Company. Recall that in February of 2020, the American car concern General Motors and Uz Auto Motors reached an agreement under which Uzbek-made cars presented in Russia under the Ravon brand will be sold under the Chevrolet brand. So, Chevrolet Spark, Nexia and Cobalt will be available to customers, and in the future it is planned to expand the lineup.

In turn, it was planned to stop the sales of cars under the Ravon brand in the Russian market by mid-2020. The change of the Ravon emblem to a Chevrolet will make the Russian buyer to recall the existence of these cars and pay attention to them again. In Uzbekistan, other Chevrolet models are also being launched, including Tracker, Captiva and Equinox crossovers, and they also plan to launch the Onix sedan (possibly under a different name). It is possible that in the future these models will also come to the Russian market.

The executive director of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, Sergey Udalov, notes that Chevrolet brand is more understood and prestigious in the eyes of car owners in compare with Ravon, as it has a deep history, image, fame and authority on a global level. These factors affect both the confidence in the purchase and the change in the residual value of the car when it is sold in the secondary market. “The Russian market is still potentially capacious for the Chevrolet brand, as cars belong to the budget segment, in which the significant sales are concentrated in the country.
