Since June 29th, 2020, AvtoVAZ plans to introduce a shortened four-day working week based on the significant negative market forecasts for April-May and the predicted by analysts forecast of annual market decline by 30-50%. The corresponding order was signed at the enterprise on April 23rd. This was reported to the agency "AUTOSTAT" in the press service of AvtoVAZ, by noting that the main priority of the company is the preservation of jobs.

At the same time, AvtoVAZ emphasizes that this decision is preliminary. “We hope that the situation will begin to improve, the Russian government is studying the issue of introducing the effective additional measures to stimulate the Russian car market. In case of a market recovery, we could keep a five-day workweek even after June 29th,” - AvtoVAZ press service said.

Recall that from April 13th AvtoVAZ resumed the operation of the main conveyors, which was suspended from March 30th pursuant to a decree of the President of Russia on additional measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. At the same time, to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection at AvtoVAZ, the start of work shifts was shifted in time. This is done in order to avoid large concentrations of workers both on the territory of the enterprise and in the transport that delivers them to work and back.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in the first quarter of 2020, Russian LADA dealers sold 79,600 vehicles, which is lower by 3% than a year ago. As a result, the market share of LADA since the beginning of the year was 20.0% versus 21.0% a year before, according to AEB.
