GAZ switched to a reduced mode of operation

Since April 20th, Gorky Automobile Plant switched to a shortened, four-day mode of operation. This was reported to the AUTOSTAT agency by the press service of the GAZ Group, by noting that the need to introduce additional non-working days even after a two-week downtime in the first half of the month is a consequence of a deep drop in demand in the commercial transport sector.

“Many individual entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized enterprises, which are the basis of GAZ’s client base, have lost income, and most of these customers do not have reserves for investments in transport in the coming months. As a result, the volume of GAZ orders in April fell by 70% from the average monthly level, and in May-June - by 85-90%. The loading of conveyors and, in principle, the possibility of the Gorky Automobile Plant operating in May and June will depend on the availability of orders from the public sector,” – informed the GAZ Group press service. This, in particular, is about the purchase of commercial vehicles and buses for the needs of various government agencies and departments, state-owned companies.

It is also proposed to speed up the launch terms of the annual replenishment of the ambulance fleet and school buses, the main purchases of which in previous years were carried out in the end of the third quarter. Recall that on April 6th, the pre-production of the plant began to work at GAZ, and on April 13th, the company resumed the assembly of cars. At the same time, office staff was transferred to a remote mode of operation, with the exception of the minimum number of employees, without whom the organization of the work process on the ground is impossible.
