GAZ Group develops buses with an air disinfection in cabs

GAZ Group is developing special anti-virus buses to stop the pandemic, and also plans to modernize ambulances. This was stated in an interview with TASS by the president of GAZ Group, Vadim Sorokin. “We wondered how GAZ Group, the country's largest manufacturer of public transport, can make it safer from a medical point of view. Our designers have developed a number of solutions, some of which can be implemented quite quickly. We make prototypes of buses, handrails of which are coated with a special bactericidal paint with silver ions, the air inside the cabin is disinfected using closed recirculators, and there are also planned non-contact buttons for passengers to stop on demand and Disinfectant Dispensers," - he said.

The president of GAZ Group also said that the group plans to modify ambulances. Traditionally, they are made on the basis of an all-metal wagon. This is a much more expensive vehicle in compare with another variant: a chassis with a removable medical module mounted on it. “In our opinion, today you can make ambulances much more efficiently - in the form of such replaceable modules, with different contents - classes A, B, C. We know that ambulances are always in extreme operation mode. They run 2 thousand km each per a week. In case of deterioration of the base chassis, we simply remove the module from it and rearrange it to another. The cost of the chassis, as a rule, is no more than 25% of the cost of an equipped medical vehicle," - said Vadim Sorokin. According to him, in a pandemic, the group can produce quickly quite a lot of such vehicles. If the situation improves, these modules can be sent to the state reserve, and the chassis can be used as a vehicle for various business tasks.
