St. Petersburg Hyundai plant resumed the car production

Hyundai St. Petersburg plant, from April 13th to 17th, resumed the production of cars, working in one shortened production shift. Most of the office staff works remotely. Thus, the company will have the minimum required number of employees, informed the press service of Hyundai Motor CIS. The company will inform about the subsequent work schedule of the plant later.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in the first quarter of 2020, 57,600 cars rolled off the assembly line, which is lower by 7% than the figure for the same period of the previous year. At the same time, in the reporting period, Russian Hyundai plant resumed the mass production of two updated models - Hyundai Solaris sedan and Hyundai Creta crossover.

As noted, the cars produced by the enterprise (Hyundai Solaris sedan and Creta crossover, KIA Rio sedan and Rio X-Line cross-hatchback) are consistently among the five leaders of sales in the Russian market. In addition, the export of cars manufactured by the Russian Hyundai plant in the first quarter of 2020 grew by 32% and reached more than 5,000 units. The increase in exports was due to an increase in the supply of cars to Kazakhstan.
