Kaluga Volvo plant will stop the production due to coronavirus

Kaluga Volvo Group plant in Kaluga will suspend the production from April 13th to 30th due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation with the spread of new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the need to preserve the health of employees, and also in compliance with restrictive measures recommended by the Russian government.

An additional factor in favor of this solution was the increased shortage of components for the production of Volvo trucks, caused by a complete or partial stoppage of component shipments from European and Asian suppliers, also provoked by the distribution of COVID-19, according to the press service of Volvo Group.

During the temporary shutdown of the enterprise from April 13th to April 30th, 2020, all employees will retain their jobs and payment in accordance with the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. Depending on the development of the situation with COVID-19 and the resumption of the supply of components to the enterprise, the period of production shutdown may be changed.

Volvo Trucks continues to ship equipment and intends to fulfill strictly all obligations to its customers. However, due to interruptions in the supply of components from suppliers, as well as the introduction of an emergency regime in several EU countries and Russia, the company predicts possible delays in the coming weeks with the shipment of a part of the finished products.
