Car dealers ask the government to include a car service in the authorized activity for the period of “quarantine”

The president of the Association of Russian Auto Dealers (ROAD), Oleg Moseev, sent a new appeal to the Government of the Russian Federation on behalf of more than 3,000 dealers in the country. But if the first letter written before leaving for the non-working week was aimed at supporting dealerships and the industry as a whole in this difficult economic situation, the new appeal contains a request to allow dealers to provide services. We are talking about certified official dealers, who today have both experience and the material and technical base in order to assist in the repair of vehicles even on these "quarantine" days - of course, with all the necessary safety standards.

The fact is that the government by its order of March 29th, 2020 in quarantine allowed the work of some organizations related to non-food products (hygiene items, pet products, washing powder, etc.), but there were no spare parts for cars on this list . Accordingly, the activities of car repair in the near future fall under the ban. The motivation of the dealers to appeal to the government is this: in the context of the coronavirus epidemic, emergency services - such as medical care, emergency rescue, law enforcement, the Russian Guard, as well as those who deliver food to stores and medicines to hospitals and pharmacies - will especially need good vehicles.

The closure of car services in such conditions is not only short-sighted - it is a matter of people's safety. “Official dealers with service stations that meet the highest standards of manufacturers, which allow the maximum possible separation of customer flow, have the ability to carry out emergency car repairs while fully ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological safety of customers and employees,” - explained Oleg Moseev, the President of ROAD.

Therefore, the Association asks the Government to supplement the existing regulation with a permit for the sale of car spare parts, oils, tires (recall that gasoline was already on the list of allowed goods) - with strict observance of all established sanitary and epidemiological requirements, as well as to permit urgent vehicle maintenance work.
