Over half a million of electronic vehicle passports were registered in Russia

As of March 26th, 2020, 568 thousand vehicles were registered in the electronic passport system. In November of 2018, there were only 42, in February of 2019 - about 100, in November of 2019 - 50 thousand. Thus, we see that in 2020, the process of issuing vehicle EP was accelerated significantly. But it cannot be said about other EAEU member countries.

Recall that initially for each of five countries of the Commonwealth, the own deadlines were set for the development of similar projects (they were supposed to start in March of the previous year). However, today, according to the counter of the official website of Electronic Passport JSC, only Belarus has moved from the zero mark so far: 9 electronic passports were issued there. In Kyrgyzstan – everything is “getting ready for implementation”. And according to the State Registration Service, the EAEU countries should switch to a unified system of EP from November 1st, 2020.

Meanwhile, in Russia this direction is developing not only quantitatively, increasing the base, but also qualitatively. So, since March 18th of this year, owners of vehicles with issued electronic passports have the opportunity to receive additional information about their car along with the usual statement from EP - the so-called “extended” version.

Such statement may contain, in addition to the previously established list of information about the vehicle, a number of other technical characteristics, as well as the name of the organization (body) that issued the EP, information about the document confirming compliance with mandatory safety requirements, etc.
