Toyota certified new Highlander in Russia

Toyota has certified a fourth-generation of Toyota Highlander crossover in Russia. Approval of the type of vehicle for this model appeared in the open base of Rosstandart.

Recall that the new Toyota Highlander was introduced at first in the last spring at the New York Motor Show, and sales in the US market began at the end of 2019. Apparently, the Russian debut of the new Highlander is also just around the corner.

As before, cars will be delivered to us from the American Toyota plant in Indiana. Highlander for Russia turned out to be slightly longer than the American one: 4966 mm versus 4950 mm and width - 1930 mm, height - 1755 mm. The wheelbase, in compare with the model of the outgoing generation, grew by 60 mm (up to 2850 mm), so that the engineers managed to place three passengers on the third row and increase the total number of seats to eight. However, in the Russian vehicle type approval, like the previous model, a seven-seater layout is indicated.

The document also indicates two possible tire sizes: 235/65 R18 and 235/55 R20. We will not have basic front-wheel drive versions, as well as hybrids. There is no exact information on the timing of the start of deliveries of crossovers to the Russian market. Some dealers do not expect delivery until 2021 at all.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, by the end of 2019, sales of the full-size Toyota Highlander crossover in the Russian market reached 1,035 cars, which is lower by 10% in compare with the previous year.
