Ukrainian ZAZ produces test lots of LADA cars

As a part of the quality and production audit, Zaporizhsky Automobile Plant produces test lots of Russian LADA cars that are delivered to dealers. This was reported by the press secretary of Ukravto Corporation, Dmitry Sklyarenko, noting that there are no final agreements that would allow us to say about the launch of mass production of LADA cars. According to him, the audit of car production at ZAZ is carried out by potential partners, one of which is GroupeRenault, and it presumes the production of test lots of cars.

According to Rossiiskaya Gazeta, ZAZ, in particular, mastered the production of LADA Largus station wagons, Vesta sedans and XRAY crossovers, and LADA 4x4 SUVs are next in line. From a technical point of view, all cars are absolutely identical to those produced by AvtoVAZ. But the choice of trim levels is not too wide: for example, Vesta and XRAY are equipped only with a mechanical transmission, and only the basic 87-horsepower engine is available for Largus.

Recall that from January 1st, 2020, a ban on the import of finished cars of Russian production came into force in Ukraine. The decision to organize the assembly of LADA at ZAZ may be a way to circumvent this law. Until now, the only manufacturer of passenger cars in Ukraine was the Eurocar plant in Transcarpathia, where Skoda cars are produced.
