The American car concern General Motors and UzAutoMotors reached an agreement under which Uzbek-made cars presented in Russia under the Ravon brand will be sold now under the Chevrolet brand.

Since March, Chevrolet Spark, Nexia and Cobalt will be available to customers, and in the future it is planned to expand the lineup. In turn, sales of cars under the Ravon brand in the Russian market will be discontinued by mid-2020.

According to the head of the sales department “AVILON. Volkswagen”, Maxim Vasiliev, Chevrolet Spark will have to compete with Datsun mi-DO and LADA Granta hatchback, Chevrolet Nexia (Aveo) - with Datsunon-DO and LADA Granta sedan, Chevrolet Cobalt - with LADA Vesta. However, technically, Chevrolet cars supplied by UzAuto to Russia lagged behind their main competitors.

The change of the Ravon emblem to Chevrolet one will make the Russian buyer remind the existence of these cars and once again draw attention to them. In turn, the executive director of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, Sergey Udalov, notes that Chevrolet brand is more understood and prestigious in the eyes of car owners in compare with Ravon, as it has a deep history, image, fame and authority on a global level. These factors affect both the confidence in the purchase and the change in the residual value of the car when it is sold in the secondary market. This will help to attract the customers who are distrustful of the new local and not understandable for them Ravon brand.
