Which cars do the different aged Russians drive?


Moscow and its suburbs have more than a quarter of the new LCV market


According to the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, 112.2 thousand new light commercial vehicles (LCVs) were sold in Russia in 2019. This is almost at the level of the previous year (+ 0.1%).

More than a quarter of these cars were bought in Moscow and the Moscow region: the capital had more than 17% of the total Russian volume, and about 8% - to its vicinity. In quantitative terms, this is 19.4 thousand units (+ 5.1% in compare with 2018) and 8.9 thousand units (-13.8%), respectively.

St. Petersburg is the next with 6.5 thousand units. The Krasnodar Territory (4.1 thousand units: -2.2%) and the Republic of Tatarstan (3.6 thousand units; + 4.9%) finished the top-5. Note that these 5 constituent entities of the Russian Federation had 38% of the new LCV market share in the previous year.

In addition to them, Rostov region (2.9 thousand units; + 9%), Sverdlovsk region (2.9 thousand units; + 4.4%), Nizhny Novgorod region (2,9 thousand units; -11%), the Republic of Bashkortostan (2.7 thousand units; + 6.3%) and Samara region (2.3 thousand units; -7.8%) are still in the TOP-10 by the market volume.
