    In 2018, sales of new cars in Russia grew by 12.8% in compare with 2017. Both segments - the mass and premium ones - also showed the growth (+ 13.9% and + 7.4%, respectively). Sales of cars of mass brands reached 1 572 246 units in 2018, the share of which is 91.2% of the total sales volume.

Volkswagen Golf remained the best-selling model in Europe in 2019

Hatchback Volkswagen Golf remained the best-selling model in the European market in 2019. Thus, this title Volkswagen retains the bestseller for the eleventh consecutive year. As noted in Volkswagen, the launch of the eighth-generation Golf, introduced in the previous autumn, is intended to strengthen the leadership of the model in the market.

In addition, the electric modification of the e-Golf at the end of 2019 became the best-selling Volkswagen electric car in Europe. According to the research of company JATO Dynamics, Volkswagen Golf became the best-selling model in Europe in December with 30,652 sold cars (+ 3%). Renault Clio is the second one; its sales reached 19,576 cars (+ 6%). The third result was shown by Tesla Model 3 - the sales of this model reached 22,118 units. Ford Kuga is the next, which was chosen by 22,045 European buyers (+ 157%). Dacia Duster finished the top-five, sales of which reached 20,933 units (+ 59%).

Renault Captur (20,299 units, + 33%), Nissan Qashqai (19726 units, + 47%), Dacia Sandero (19204 units, + 19%), Volkswagen Polo (18,263 units, -25%) and Peugeot 208 (17,612 units, + 19%) finished the TOP-10 of best-selling models in Europe.
