Sales of used electric vehicles grew 1.5 times in Russia

According to the analytic agency AUTOSTAT, in 2019 the Russian market volume of used electric vehicles reached 3303 units. This is 48% higher than in 2018 (2237 units). Nissan Leaf remains the most popular used electric car. For the last year, 3123 Nissan Leaf cars received new owners, and almost all of these cars (3051 units) have the right-hand drive and imported from Japan. The sale of other used cars in the Russian market is much smaller: Mitsubishi I-MiEV (69 units), Tesla Model S (34 units), BMW i3 (28 units), LADA Ellada (24 units), Tesla Model X ( 11 units), Jaguar I-Pace (9 units), Renault Twizy (3 pcs.), Hyundai Ioniq and Tesla Model 3 (1 unit).

As for geography, the Irkutsk region has the largest secondary market for electric cars. Last year, 405 local residents became the owners of such vehicles. In Primorsky Krai, 387 people purchased used electric vehicles. The third largest market of such vehicles was Krasnodar Territory (235 units). This is followed by the Khabarovsk Territory (223 units), the Novosibirsk region (137 units) and the Krasnoyarsk territory (124 units). Moscow in this ranking is only the seventh one (122 units), Moscow Region – is the eighth one (109 units). In other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the sale of used electric cars reached less than a hundred units.
