European sales LADA fell by 4% in 2019

By the results of December, there were sold 471 new LADA cars in the countries of the European Union, which is 57.3% higher than a year ago. Thus, sales of Russian-made cars in the EU showed the growth for the first time after three months of decline, experts at the AUTOSTAT analytical agency noted (based on ASEA data processing).

According to the results of 2019, the sale of LADA cars in the European Union reached 4956 units, decreasing by 3.9%. Recall that in the spring of this year, AvtoVAZ decided to stop the supply of LADA cars to Europe. The reason for leaving the company is called tightening environmental standards. Introduced the Euro 6d-TEMP standard in the previous autumn requires significant investment in engine upgrades. Meanwhile, AvtoVAZ press service stated that the company has plans to create, in close cooperation with partners from the Alliance, a global model and return to the European market. Apparently, we are talking about a new generation of LADA 4x4 SUV, which, after AvtoVAZ’s purchase of GM’s stake in the joint venture, may be called Niva.

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in general, AvtoVAZ delivered about 50 thousand LADA cars for export in 2019 - 32% higher in compare with the previous year. The main export markets for the Russian brand remain Belarus (16 thousand units, + 53%) and Kazakhstan (15 thousand units, + 14%), where LADA is also the No. 1 brand with a share of 25.7% and 21.8 % respectively. In addition, in the spring of 2019, AvtoVAZ entered the Mongolian market, where the first LADA dealership was opened in the capital Ulan Bator.
