Sales of Japanese car brands fell by 10% in Russia

According to the assessment of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, for 11 months of 2019, almost 270 thousand units of new passenger cars of Japanese brands were sold in Russia. This is 10% lower than in the same period of 2018. According to agency experts, their sales are falling more than the whole Russian market (-3%).

The largest drop among Japanese automakers represented in our country is shown by Honda (-64%). Sales of Infiniti and Nissan cars fell by 25% and 22%, respectively, in January - November of the previous year. In addition to Nissan, other leaders of the “Japanese” segment also show a decrease in sales: Toyota (-5%), which ranks the first in terms of sales, and Mitsubishi (-8%), which finishes the top-3.

Also, negative dynamics were recorded in such brands as Lexus (-10%), Mazda (-4%) and Subaru (-4%). However, among the Japanese brands that are represented in the Russian market, there are also brands the sales of passenger cars of which are growing, for example: Suzuki (+ 23%), Datsun (+ 12%) and Isuzu (+ 6%).
