The share of foreign cars in the aftermarket increased up to 60%

According to the data of AUTOSTAT analytic agency, 2.86 million cars were re-registered in the Russian car market from January till September 2011. That is 2.5% less than a year ago. According to the analysts, the rapid growth of the aftermarket, registered till April 2011, in May changed into negative dynamics, which has been registered for five months already. 

At the same time the structure of the aftermarket is changing rapidly. The number of used domestic car sales decreased by 17% during 9 months, and the used foreign car sales increased by 10%. As a result the share of foreign cars in the aftermarket now is over 60%, two years ago it was less than 50% though.

According to AUTOSTAT, Toyota is still the leader in the foreign used car market, the second place belongs to Nissan. However the sales of Japanese cars have not changed almost. The third place was taken by Ford, which due to high sales dynamics (+12.5%) left behind Mitsubishi. The fifth place belongs to Volkswagen, which also has high growth (15.2%). TOP-10 foreign brands in the aftermarket also includes Honda, Hyundai, Chevrolet, Opel and Mazda.
