KAMAZ began the tests of drone

The first test races of the KAMAZ-4308 unmanned vehicle began on the KAMAZ plant territory. A truck without a driver will master the logistics of deliveries of cabs from a press-frame plant to an automobile one.

According to the KAMAZ press service, the project for the transportation of components using robotic cars was called the Odyssey. So far we are talking about logistics operations on the roads around the perimeter of the KAMAZ industrial site. In general, such vehicles can be used in any industry where shuttle transport on specified routes is required. “KAMAZ creates several types of autonomous cars at once: it is transport that ensures the movement of convoys without drivers, cab less electric cars and city shuttles with autonomous movement systems. The unmanned truck, which began to work on the site of the enterprise, is highly accurate - the navigation error does not exceed 3-5 cm,” - said Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostech State Corporation, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KAMAZ.

The Odyssey is assembled on the basis of KAMAZ-4308 diesel car. The vehicle is equipped with four types of sensors at once: video cameras, radars, lidars and sonars. The autobot is equipped with several communication systems: industrial Wi-Fi, 4G and special VHF band in case other communication channels are jammed, that is, an emergency channel. All data from the sensors enters the brain of the vehicle - the computer, where the analysis of incoming information about the motion parameters will take place.

In addition, test races of Kama trucks will soon take place in one of the Kuzbass coal mines. We are talking about transport, created for work in hazardous areas.
