In Russia, sales of cars with "automatic" transmission are growing, but with "mechanics" - are falling

According to the assessment of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, from January to September of this year, about 1.2 million new cars were sold in Russia, which is 2% lower than for 9 months of 2018.

Despite the general market decline, experts noted an increase in sales of cars equipped with automatic transmission (AT). So, during the reporting period, their sales grew by 3% to 698.4 thousand units. But sales of cars with a manual transmission (MCP) continue to decline, and more noticeably.

For 9 months of 2019, their volume reached 486 thousand units - 8.4% lower than the result of a year ago. Thus, the market share of passenger cars with AT has already reached 59%, while for cars with manual gearboxes it has dropped to 41%.
