The Russian car market fell by 5% in October

Sales of cars and light commercial vehicles fell by 5.2% to 152,057 cars in Russia in October. According to the results of 10 months of 2019, Russian car market reached 1 million 423 thousand 449 cars (-2.4%), according to the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in AEB, the October sales drop kept the market on the path of slow but prolonged erosion of the much-needed growth in sales now, which was achieved in 2017-2018. Of course, this is not the direction that the industry wants to see, but now it’s hard to say what changes for the better could come from.

The leadership in the Russian car market is held by AvtoVAZ with 30,237 sold LADA cars in October (-6%). KIA is the second one in terms of sales with 20,141 sold cars (-4%) that provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the market of foreign cars. Hyundai is the third one with 15,827 sold cars, which corresponds to the level of the previous year. Renault is the next, 13,670 buyers have chosen cars of this brand (+ 12%). Volkswagen finishes the top 5, with 9253 sold cars (-7%).

The top 10 of best-selling brands in October also included Skoda (8,903 units, + 17%), Toyota (7,887 units, -6%), GAZ (6,530 units, + 20%), Mercedes-Benz (3,787 units, + 15%) and BMW (3,700 units, + 19%).
