Skoda Karoq will come to Russia in the first quarter of 2020

The compact crossover Skoda Karoq will appear in the Russian market in early 2020. As the head of the Skoda brand in Russia, Jan Prokhazka, informed the portal 110km.ru, the localized Karoq will be officially presented to the Russian public in December of 2019, and in February-March dealers will begin to take orders for the new product.

At the same time, Mr. Prokhazka noted that in the first year of sales, the brand’s management does not expect Karoq to overtake the “senior” Kodiaq in sales, as at the start, Karok will have fewer engines and trim levels. The production of the compact crossover will be launched at the facilities of the GAZ Group plant in Nizhny Novgorod, where the Octavia liftback and the Kodiaq crossover are already being produced. In addition, the company has another plant in Kaluga, which produces the bestseller of the brand - Rapid liftback.

Recall that the world premiere of Skoda Karoq took place in Stockholm in the mid-May 2017, and its mass production began in July’17. The overall length of Skoda Karoq is 4382 mm, width - 1841 mm, and height - 1605 mm. The size of the wheelbase is 2638 and 2630 for cars with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, respectively.

Skoda launches the Karoq model at the plant in Kvasiny (Czech Republic) from mid-July of 2017, and from January’18 at the main plant in Mladá Boleslav. In 2018, the Czech brand delivered to its customers 115.7 thousand of the compact SUVs, and in the nine months of 2019, 111.2 thousand people (+ 39%) have already bought it. Such high demand makes Karoq one of the most popular Skoda models. In Europe, Skoda Karoq engine range includes five powertrains.

With the most powerful engine, the car accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.8 s, and its maximum speed is 211 km / h. All versions of Skoda Karoq can be ordered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG “robot”. The exception is the 190-horsepower diesel engine, which is not offered with the "mechanics". The equipment and engines of cars that will be available in Russia are still under discussion. But it is known that for customers it will be offered both front-wheel drive versions and cars with all-wheel drive.
