The number of car dealers fell to 3.3 thousand in Russia


As a part of the monitoring, specialists of the AUTOSTAT analytical agency established that as of mid-October 2019, there were 3,323 official dealerships * for the sale and maintenance of cars in our country. We should note that since the beginning of this year, their number has decreased by 127 (in January there were 3,450 dealers).

At the same time, the decrease in the number of dealerships for this period is explained by the fact that 343 new dealer contracts were concluded and 470 were terminated. Among the brands, the dealer networks of which were reduced more than others, it is worth noting Ravon (-70 centres). But this is due to the reorganization of the dealer network in connection with the announced return of the Uzbek manufacturer to the Russian market.

As noted by the company itself, in the near future the number of Ravon dealers will increase. For 9 months, it became less of 48 dealerships of the American Ford, which, recall, announced the departure from the passenger segment in our country. In its turn, the Chinese Lifan has reduced its dealer network by 35 official representatives. Another brand from China - Chery - “lost” 14 dealers. GM-AVTOVAZ decreased its network by 8 dealerships and FAW - by 6.

It is also worth noting that many dealers have moved into the category of service partners. Among the brands that have increased their dealer networks during the reporting period, we can note the Chinese ones. For example, after a five-year break, JAC concluded the dealership contracts with 50 companies. Haval, which opened its own car plant in Russia, increased the number of dealers by 41.

Changan added 16 dealers, Geely - 8, and DFM - 7. LADA, which has the largest dealer network in Russia, increased the number of official representatives by 6. Mitsubishi increased its dealer network by the same number, while Suzuki, another Japanese brand, by 5 centres. The German brand Audi and the Korean KIA have expanded their dealer networks by 4 companies.
