Volvo and Hyundai recently launched the long-term rental services for their cars in Russia. At the initial stage, a limited number of dealers in Moscow and the Moscow Region participate in the programs.

As Oksana Getsova, the head of direct sales and business transformation at Volvo CarRussia, informed AUTOSTAT, for several months of the Volvo CarDrive service, the company managed to sell the whole volume of cars that was until the end of the year. In the first year of Volvo CarDrive subscription service, Volvo XC60 cars will be available in the top configuration Inscription with a T5 gasoline engine with 249 HP. The number of cars available by subscription is limited due to the fact that the project is experimental.

According to Alexey Ermilov, the marketing director of AvtoSpetsTsentr Group of Companies, the pilot projects for long-term car rental are currently available only to Muscovites and residents of the region, as the capital is considered as the busiest metropolis where car rental or rental services are in great demand. Other millionaire cities are also perspective for implementation - St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Perm, and Krasnodar. The development of the service geography depends on the income level of the population of each region, therefore, according to the expert, the Yamalo-Nenets, Chukchi and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Districts have chances to be in the list of favorites.

 “The target audience for subscription products is dynamic residents of megalopolises between the ages of 35-40, who value their time, which is always insufficient in the rhythm of a big city. They have already adopted for themselves new paradigms of digital consumption, and the fact of ownership is not so important for them. In the first wave of the pilot project, we saw among our clients many representatives of the IT sector and employees of high-tech companies from a number of industries, although, of course, these are not 100% of customers,” - says the head of sales at AVILON. Volvo, Pavel Chervyakov.

According to his estimates, the long-term rental service has a completely insignificant share in the total sales of new cars, so we could not expect any decrease in the cost of the service in the next two years. So far, demand will significantly exceed supply. If we talk about the appearance of new, more affordable models, then the cost of a monthly payment can be reduced by 10-20%. In general, the prospects for this direction are huge: this form of ownership in the next 5 years will be able to be up to 15% of sold cars, Pavel Chervyakov is sure.
