The number of electric buses will grow to 300 units in Moscow by the end of the year

As Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his blog, the number of electric buses in the capital will reach three hundred by the end of this year.

The head of the city recalled that on September 1st, 2018, city transport took a big step into the future - the first electric buses went to the capital's roads. Today already 210 vehicles go on 14 routes and transport more than 100 thousand people every day and over a year their number exceeded 11 million.

Moscow electric bus admits 85 people; it has minimum 30 seats. The low level of the floor, the ramp and the storage area make it easier for people with mobility problems, women with wheelchairs and cyclists,” - the mayor wrote. – “The climate control system makes the trip comfortable at any time of the year. Free Wi-Fi, USB-connectors for charging mobile devices and information media screens – it helps to overcome the distance “from point A to point B” with interest and benefit”.

Sergei Sobyanin also said that since 2021 Moscow plans to abandon almost completely the purchase of diesel buses. The city will buy only environmentally friendly rolling stock - electric buses and trams.

Recall, a year ago, AUTOSTAT reported that two Russian companies, KAMAZ and GAZ Group, won the tender for the purchase of electric buses. The GAZ Group electric bus has two asynchronous motors with power up to 125 kW, which allow speeds up to 70 km / h, as well as lithium-titanate batteries that provide ultra-fast charging in 10-18 minutes. KAMAZ electric bus is equipped with the most advanced type of lithium-titanate (LTO) batteries, which allows you to have a range of up to 56 km, and it takes only 10-20 minutes to recharge it.
