The Lada Priora can get Renault-Nissan engine
AvtoVAZ is considering possibility to localize production of the new Renault-Nissan engine at AvtoVAZ. The new engine will be installed in the renewed Niva SUV and, probably, in the Lada Priora, AvtoVAZ president Igor Komarov told during interview to Za Rulem – Online.
As for the in-house engines, AvtoVAZ is planning to produce new eight-valved 1.6 liter engine in short-term prospects.
“We are going to develop the new Niva together with GM, and we will design 1.8 liter engine for it”, -the head of AvtoVAZ added.
We should remind that in June 2011 the Lada Priora sedans and hatchbacks with Standard package got modernised engine – 90 h.p. 8-valved with lightened connecting rod and piston group. Then there was information, that the new engines would also be installed in the Lada Granta and the Lada Kalina, AvtoSreda reports. This October AvtoVAZ started production of the Lada 4x4 with Euro-4 engine.
