Volkswagen increased global LCV sales by a quarter

During nine months of 2011, Volkswagen Commercial Cars increased global sales by 25.5% up to 390,000 LCVs. According to Volkswagen Commercial Cars board member Harald Shomburg, the company managed to sell such number of cars for the first time during the nine months. 

The Caddy became the absolute brand’s bestseller. The dealers all over the world sold 118,400 light commercial vehicles (+25.6%). A little less results belong to the T5 series models (the Transporter, the Caravelle, the Multivan and the California), whose sales grew by 9.6% up to 115,700 cars. From January till September 26,700 Crafter cars were sold (+1.1%). The Amarok sales grew three times and came up to 47,400 cars. The sales of the Saveiro light pickups in the South American market increased by 18.5% up to 62,100 cars (+18.5%). The sales of the Transporter T2 in the Brasilian market remained at the level of the previous year – 19,500 cars sold (-3.5%).

The sales of Volkswagen Commercial Cars in Western Europe increased by 17.5% up to 211,900 cars. However the German market, where 91,200 cars of this brand were sold (+7.6%) is still the most fast-growing market. In Eastern Europe the sales increased by 43.5% up to 24,900 LCVs. In the Middle East, where positive dynamics is mostly a result of success in the Turkish market, the sales grew by a third, which is 22,300 cars in terms of numbers.

South America, where the sales grew by 30% up to 105,000 cars, is still the most successful region after Europe. The significant growth was also registered in the Russian market. From January till September 8,564 cars of this brand were sold in Russia – that is twice more than a year ago.
