Isuzu is ready to organize the production of pickups in Russia

After 2023, the Japanese Isuzu car concern will be ready to organize the production of its pickups in Russia, both for the domestic market and for export. The CEO of IsuzuRus, Fabrice Gorlier, informed about it the newspaper "Vedomosti".

By this time, the annual sales of Isuzu pickups in Russia can reach 2-3 thousand cars per a year. The Japanese automaker introduced its D-Max pickup truck to the Russian market at the end of 2016.

According to Isuzu Rus, sales of Isuzu D-Max pickups grew 2.9 times the previous year and reached 489 cars. As AUTOSTAT reported earlier, in April’19, sales of the updated pickup Isuzu D-Max of 2019 model year began in Russia.

The model is offered in five trim levels at a price from 2 million 145 thousand rubles to 2 million 595 thousand rubles. The pickup truck is available in 1,5 and double versions. In all versions of the 2019 Isuzu D-Max model year, a new power unit is installed - a 3-liter Isuzu 4JJ1 diesel engine (177 HP / 430 Nm), equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger VGS Turbo and intercooler. There are two new gearboxes to choose from - a mechanical 6-speed Isuzu MVL-6N and an automatic 6-speed Aisin AWR6B45 II. All Isuzu D-Max models of the 2019 model year are equipped with a Part-time all-wheel drive system with a lowering range.

Recall that Isuzu Rus has an enterprise in Ulyanovsk, where the entire line of automobile chassis of categories N, F, C, E is manufactured with a gross weight of 3.5 to 33 tons. In May 2018, Isuzu Sollers entered into a special investment contract with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ulyanovsk Region for the implementation of a technology partnership project in Russia. The partnership provides the creation of a new joint product in the medium-tonnage truck segment and export through the Isuzu distribution network around the world.

The total investment in the project will be over 6 billion rubles, including 1.3 billion in R&D. Production within the framework of the joint venture is planned to be launched in 2021 at the new facilities created in Ulyanovsk.
