In 2014 Volvo will renew its Russian bestseller XC90

Swedish carmaker Volvo is preparing renewal for the largest model – the XC90 SUV. The car has not been changed a lot since its market entry in 2002. 

“The XC90 has been really very successful car in Russia for many years. We have already started work on the new generation of this legendary SUV, and I think, we will be able to introduce it in 2014. We have not decided yet, when the new model will go on sale”, - the head of Volvo Car Corp. Stefan Jacoby told during the interview to Vedomosti newspaper.

As he thinks, the XC90 and the XC60 SUVs are ideal for Russia. “Russia is the SUV market, I think we have right models, e.g. the XC60 and the XC90, to meet the customers’ requirements. Russian consumers also like our sedans: the S60 sport sedans and the S80 business sedan have good sales dynamics. Moreover, our cars are very safe, which is also very valuable in Russia. Our customers in Russia are well-educated, so we have a very high rating here”, the heard of Swedish company said about the situation in our country.

According to Auto.Vesti.Ru, the major markets for Volvo are European countries. Secondary, but not less important ones are in the USA, China and Russia. At that Swedish brand’s sales in Russia are growing faster than the market. S. Jacoby believes, that this dynamics is the result of the fact that “Volvo is excellent for this market”, mentioning the brand’s SUVs again.

According to AEB, during nine months of 2011 Volvo sales in the Russian market grew by 79% up to 12,307 cars. According AUTOSTAT analytic agency, the brand’s bestseller in our country are the XC90 (3,271 cars, 26.6% share), the XC60 (2,801 cars, 22.8% share) and the XC70 (2,415 cars, 19.6% share).
