Sales of new luxury cars fell by 5% in Russia

According to the data of the analytical agency AUTOSTAT, the Russian market volume of new luxury segment cars for 7 months of 2019 reached 774 units. This is 5% lower than the previous year.

Moreover, more than a half of the brands that we traditionally refer to the luxury segment showed the growth: Lamborghini (+ 283% to 88 units), Rolls-Royce (+ 92% to 94 units), Bentley (+ 38% to 204 units ), Ferrari (+ 5% to 20 units).

Accordingly, the remaining brands went “negative”: Maserati (-44% to 76 units), Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class (-34% to 284 units), AstonMartin (-27% to 8 units).

Despite a significant drop in sales, the Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class remains the most popular model in the Luxury segment. So, according to the results of January - July, it had about 37% of this market.

Two Bentley models are in the top 3 - Continental GT (109 units; 9 times growth) and Bentayga (87 units; -28%).

Over a half (55%) of new luxury cars for the reporting period were purchased by residents of Moscow, which is equivalent to 422 units. Other 82 luxury cars were registered in the Moscow region. St. Petersburg added 73 cars to its luxury fleet. Among the non-capital regions, Krasnodar Territory distinguished in the love of expensive cars: 32 such units were purchased there. Sverdlovsk region finished the top 5 among the subjects of the Russian Federation (18 units).
