In July, Russian GAZ dealers sold 5,139 light commercial vehicles, which is 1% higher than the previous year. By the results of 7 months of 2019, sales of Gorky Automobile Plant LCV reached 31,099 units (-3%), according to AEB. GAZelle Next remains the best-selling GAZ model, being the leader in the Russian market of commercial vehicles in general.

According to Roman Gidayatov, General Director of AvtoSpetsTsentr in Kotlyakovka, the popularity of GAZelle is due to several factors. Firstly, the price of a vehicle is one of the lowest in the market - the price starts from 1.15 million rubles, which is 20-30% lower than the price of its foreign counterparts. The role is played by the price of spare parts (savings of 3-5 times compared with foreign vehicles), budget maintenance, as well as the price of insurance. GAZelle vehicles are well adapted to Russian roads, an unfavorable climate, and they have high payloads. Also, the cost of repair work is the most competitive in the market.

Recall that today the GAZelle Next family has a wide selection of modifications and options for special vehicles, including freight and utility models, all-metal vans and “combi”, minibuses with different numbers of seats, bread, manufactured goods and isothermal vans, euro platforms, ambulances and school buses. The latest model in the GAZelle Next family is a cargo van and a minibus with an extra-long wheelbase with a gross weight of 4.6 tons, the sales of which started in 2019. GAZelle Next vehicles are equipped with four types of power units: gasoline, diesel and two versions of gasoline engines running on compressed (methane) or liquefied gas (propane).

As AUTOSTAT previously reported, the Gorky Automobile Plant is developing a low-floor urban minibus. The new model will have a spacious cabin with increased comfort, meet the requirements of the "Accessible Environment" program and will be suitable for transporting such categories of passengers as mothers with baby strollers and people with disabilities. Production and sales of low-floor minibuses may begin already in 2020.
