Subaru can launch a plant in the Far East

Japanese carmaker Subaru can launch its enterprise in Russia in the Far East. According to Inside Line periodical, if the decision about the plant construction is made, Subaru enterprise in Russia will be launched in 2015 and will produce 25,000 – 35,000 cars per year.

The first who said about possible Subaru production in Russia was Kazusi Iosida, having explained that Russian sales of Subaru cars are still not enough for production in Russia. – “In order to provide more or less complete car production cycle we will need to sell at least 30,000 cars per year. We are planning to achieve this sales volume only in three-four year. Thus, our first goal is to reach this level of car sales in Russia and only after that we can think about local production".
Meanwhile, according to Subaru Motor's director, the company is planning to sell in Russia 13,000 cars in 2011, and 22,000 in 2012. At that Kazusi Iosida mentioned that today Russia is the priority market for Subaru in Europe and the third priority market in the world – after America and China.

According to AEB data, from January till August 2011 Subaru sales in the Russian market grew by 41 % up to 9,196 cars. At that about 60% of this number belong to the brand's bestseller – the Forester SUV (5,521 cars).
