The Russian car market fell by 2% in July

Sales of cars and light commercial vehicles fell by 2.4% up to 139,968 vehicles in Russia in July. According to the results of seven months of 2019, the Russian car market amounted to 968,718 vehicles (-2.4%), according to the Association of European Businesses.

As noted in AEB, in general, the market expectations until the end of the year will not improve. Recall that earlier the association predicted that even with some positive trend in the second half of the year, the best one could hope for a repeat of the previous year’s sales result (1.8 million cars).

Leadership in the Russian car market is held by AvtoVAZ, which sold 29,486 LADA cars in July, which corresponds to the level of the previous year. KIA took the second place in sales - sales of 18,811 cars (+ 2%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the foreign car market. Hyundai is in third place with 13,849 sold cars, which is 4% less than the previous year.

Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 11,765 buyers (+ 12%). Toyota closes the TOP-five, sales of which were 9,367 vehicles (-4%). The TOP-10 of the best-selling brands in July also included Volkswagen (8,328 units, -3%), Skoda (7,307 units, + 10%), GAZ (5,139 units, + 1%), Nissan (3,980 units, -33%) and Mercedes-Benz (3,469 units, + 12%).
