    For the last year, 1 million 671.6 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is more by 13.3% than in the last year. At the same time, in December of 2018, sales of new cars were 158.3 thousand units, which is more by 3.9% than a year ago. As for crossovers and SUVs, their sales in January-December grew by 18.1% in compare with 2017 and they were 729.2 thousand cars. The segment's share in total sales grew by 1.7 percentage points and reached 43.6%.

Renault Captur is best-selling SUV in Europe in June

In June, the Renault Captur compact crossover entered the European TOP-3, having become the leader in the SUV segment. According to Renault, the model remains popular, despite the end of its life cycle, and the launch of the new generation Captur should strengthen the position of this crossover.

According to JATO Dynamics, the Volkswagen Golf became the best-selling model in Europe with 37,569 cars sold last month (-13.9%). The second place was taken by the Renault Clio with 35,972 vehicles sold (-9.9%). The Renault Captur took the third place - the demand for this model increased by 5.2% up to 28,186 vehicles. It is followed by the Volkswagen Polo, which was chosen by 24,005 European customers (-32.1%). The Dacia Sandero is on the fifth place with 23,150 vehicles sold (+ 4.5%).

TOP-10 models in Europe also include the Dacia Duster (21,663 vehicles, +10.8%), the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa (20,932 vehicles, -6.8%), the Ford Fiesta (20,922 vehicles, -18.5%), the Peugeot 208 (20,907 vehicles, - 4.3%) and the Volkswagen Tiguan (20,603 vehicles, - 17.5%).
