In September Skoda renewed its worldwide sales record

During nine months of 2011 Skoda increased its worldwide sales by 16.8% up to 664,800 cars. Having sold 81,200 cars the brand set up the new record in September, which became the third sales record month in its history (after March and June 2011). 

According to Jürgen Stackmann, Skoda sale and marketing board director, in 2011 the company exceeded level of 800,000 cars sold for the first time. “The extention of the model lineup will be important in the further brand’s development and strengthening of its market position in the nearest years, - Jürgen Stackmann says. – We have already introduced two new models: the Citigo compact city car and the Rapid sedan, designed for the Indian market. Skoda is entering the new segments with them.

In September Skoda dealers in the Czech Republic sold 5,100 Skoda cars, which is 33.1% of the local market. The brand has also strengthened its positions in other countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The sales increased by 85.9% in Croatia, by 9.6% in Rumania, by 8.9% in Hungary, by 7.1% in Ukraine.

In September Skoda sales in Western Europe grew by 2.6% up to 35,200 cars. Three markets set up unbelievable records: Great Britain (7,200 cars, +33.2%), Switzerland (1,700 cars, +27.9%), Norway (700 cars, + 27.7%).

The brand’s sales also grew in developing markets in Russia, India and China. By the end of September Skoda had sold more cars in Russia and India than in 2010. In September car suppliers in Russia grew by 63.1% up to 6,500 cars. Thus, as for the sales, last September became the second best month in the company’s history. The sales in India grew by 37.5% up to 2,200 cars in September. The carmaker set up new record in China, having sold 21,100 cars (+9.8%).

Skoda sales also grow in the other markets out of Europe. In Australia its sales increased more than twice – by 125.1%.
