Sales of premium cars show the growth in Russia


According to the evaluation of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", for 5 months of 2019, the Russians bought 59.3 thousand new cars of premium brands. It is more by 2.8% than in the same period of the last year. Thus, according to agency experts, the sales of premium cars are growing against the background of a fall in the whole Russian market (-2.2%).

During the reporting period, the sales growth was recorded at 8 premium brands, and at 7 of them it is measured in two-digit numbers. So, sales of Genesis cars (+ 80%) grew the most in the premium segment. At Jeep, this figure was + 48%, at Volvo + 30%, and at Porsche + 25%. Sales of cars of the premium brand BMW, which is the segment leader, grew by 17%. Manufactures of compact cars - smart and MINI - added 15% and 10%, respectively, to the result of a year ago. Another major player in the premium segment of the Russian car market - Mercedes-Benz - has increased sales by 2%.

The rest premium brands have a drop in sales. Jaguar fell by 22%, Lexus and Cadillac - by 20%, Infiniti - by 13%. Also, Land Rover (-11%) lost more than 10% of the level of January – May of 2018. The smallest decrease in sales volumes of cars in the premium segment is demonstrated by Audi (-2%).
