    In 2018, sales of new cars in Russia grew by 12.8% in compare with 2017. Both segments - the mass and premium ones - also showed the growth (+ 13.9% and + 7.4%, respectively). Sales of cars of mass brands reached 1 572 246 units in 2018, the share of which is 91.2% of the total sales volume.



The production of passenger cars fell by 6% in May


According to Rosstat, for five months of 2019, 645 thousand cars left the Russian conveyors - it is more by 2.1% than in the same period of the last year. Meanwhile, 114 thousand cars were produced in May, which is less by 6.1% than a year ago.

It is worth noting that AVTOVAZ and LADA Izhevsk enterprise stopped the production of cars in connection with the May holidays. A new Mercedes-Benz plant, which was opened in April in the Yesipovo industrial park near Moscow, launched the production of E-Class sedans in the last month.

The production of trucks amounted to 55.7 thousand units in January-May, which is less by 2.3% than a year ago. Last month, 12 thousand trucks left the Russian conveyors, which corresponds to the level of 2018 (+ 0.7%).

It should be noted that the opening of a new plant of the production of carcass cabins for KAMAZ and Mercedes-Benz trucks took place in Naberezhnye Chelny. In May, the Kaliningrad Autotor began the mass production of the new generation of Ford Trucks F-Max. In addition, the 70,000th Ford Transit vehicle left the assembly line of the Ford Sollers enterprise in Yelabuga since the start of model production in January of 2012.
