Government stimulates the development of gas fuel market

The Russian government has issued a decree that will increase the production of vehicles that use natural gas as an engine fuel, as well as stimulate the development of refueling infrastructure. The document provides the sales of at least 2,500 vehicles using natural gas as an engine fuel in 2019, taking into account the federal funding in the amount of 2.5 billion rubles, reports the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia. As it was noted, it will help to update the parcs of municipal vehicles with more environmentally friendly vehicles and will give an additional impetus to the development of the use of natural gas as an engine fuel.

Recall, since 2014, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has been implementing a program to stimulate the purchase of gas-engine vehicles, thanks to which for 5 years there were subsidized sales of more than 14,000 units. As it was reported earlier by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Alexander Morozov, by stressing that Russian automakers have mastered the production of the whole range of vehicles using the compressed gas with a high level of localization, also due to the program to stimulate demand implemented by the Russian Ministry of Industry. In 2018, 1,850 LADA Vesta gas vehicles were subsidized as a part of a program of 6,000 vehicles.
